When we saw the news that broadcaster ITV had taken on the 13-year lease at White City Broadcast Centre – once the home of the BBC – the MPL office was filled with chatter. The move highlights three current ‘hot topics’ in the office sector, some of which may apply to you.

1. Bringing staff together under one roof: ITV’s new location will allow its 2,000 members of staff to share the same location, with the broadcaster acknowledging that face-to-face collaboration is a crucial concept in its industry. Although not on the same scale, we helped The Acorn Group achieve this by fitting out a new, four-floor headquarters to bring 16 departments and 150 members of staff together for the first time.

2. Taking on a long lease: signing up for more than a decade in the same building is a real commitment but it also paves the way for an investment in the building’s space planning and fit out too. MPL’s commercial refurbishment for Yoooserve in Weybridge illustrates how a shell of an office can become a bespoke workplace.
